Adespotologio is a group of volunteers for strays working mainly in Athens but co-ooperating with people in other parts of Greece as well. We are together about 2 years trying to neuter and save from the streets as many animals as possible as well as distribute leaflets and organize presentations and events to inform people on all issues related to pets.
We came together gradually as a group. We met through a cat forum (www.mycat.gr) and we were all touched by the case of a cat with Fiv, who was impossible to find a home here, so we all collected money for the girl who took care of him to take him to a shelter in Germany. Apart from this case we realized that there are hundreds of animals in need and we started to get organized and try to do our best to help them.
We maintain 1 blog (adespotologio.blogspot.com), as well as a website (www.adespotologio.gr). We try to update them regularly with new adds for animals for adoption, news and suggest ways for people to help.
We as a group work a lot with neuterings, but also taking care of sick animals and finding homes. We work mostly with cats, but with dogs as well, especially through the dog shelters we volunteer in.
We try to volunteer in shelters as well. So we very often need things like:
We have constant and everyday needs for all things related to animal care, but mostly for:
- funding for neuterings
- antibiotics for leismaniasis and erlichiosis, as well as cat-diseases (rinotracheitis)
- preventive medicine against any kind of parasites ( like frontline spray, drontal pills, panacur, antiparasitic collars for dogs, etc)
- dog and cat dry food
